Le personnage principal, John Nada, découvre une paire de lunettes qui lui permet de voir le monde tel qu’il est vraiment… Les extraterrestres dominent la population grâce à des messages subliminaux qu’ils répandent dans les publicités, les magazines, la télévision et les billets de banques… Critique violente des années Reagan, et parabole politique dénonçant la classe au pouvoir, aurions-nous aujourd’hui encore besoin de lunettes dénonçant les conspirations ?
Conspiracies Don’t Exist is a tribute to the 1988 film They Live (Invasion Los Angeles) by John Carpenter. The main character, John Nada, discovers a pair of glasses that allow him to see the world as it really is: dominated by extraterrestrials who control the masses through subliminal messages in advertisements, magazines, on television and bank notes. It was both a violent critique of the Reagan administration and a political parable meant to denounce the ruling classes. Conspiracies don’t exist uses irony and mystery to play with the idea of conspiracy theories and the manipulation and control of the masses. The work is an invitation to question our vision (blind or lucid) of the world and how it works.And if you think that conspiracies exist or rather that they do not, you are an idiot!
