Barricade 2, 2013

galerie Robespierre Grande-Synthe personal exhibition as part of Watch this space #7 - biennial of young creation by 50°Nord

Barricade 2 is based on a protocol that Jezy Knez has already developed in previous installations: the two artists lock themselves in a wireline structure that they methodically cover with pallet wood boards before taking each one of them one by one to build a form on a principle of tension. Interrogating the barricade object in its sculptural dimension and as an object of popular happening against an oppressive authority, this sculpture becomes a moving border that isolates two territories in confrontation. Applicable everywhere and adjustable according to its context, Barricade 2 fits here in a game of back and forth between public and private spaces, behind a showcase that reflects it. The barricade enclosed in the cage which became its initial support evokes the absurd discord agreed by two individuals.
